Leadership Development: Getting Leaders Up to Speed and Down to Business
Tom Davidson is an executive coach who changes the way people think about learning leadership in the 21st Century. A former forester, public affairs officer, and vice president of human resources and organization development, he has since coached nearly 1000 new managers and emerging leaders through career transitions that accelerated them from individual-contributor roles to successful managerial positions. During over 20 years in management of Fortune 500 organizations, Tom fostered significant change in mature businesses, helped turn around ailing business units, and lead greenfield start-up operations. Prior to his career in human resources, Tom was an expert in natural resources. As such, he has been a fire fighter, a survival instructor, an environmental educator, a scoutmaster, and a trail guide. He has parlayed many of his outdoor experiences into memorable stories and analogies that make his points stick, both in training and speaking venues. In addition to BS degrees in forestry and agricultural economics from North Carolina State University, Tom earned an MBA from the University of Richmond and an MSOD from The American University and NTL Institute in Washington, DC. Furthermore, he is a certified senior professional in human resource management (SPHR), a professional certified coach (PCC), and president of the National Speakers Association in Virginia. A former radio talk show host in Williamsburg, Virginia, Tom's first book is titled, The 8 Greatest Mistakes New Managers Make: Getting Your Leadership Up to Speed and Down to Business, and he writes a column on leadership lessons from the daily news called, Leaderslips & Tips: The Good, The Bad, and the Bungled.
