Bio:
Smokie knows first-hand challenges women often face in life and career through her own experiences. Using her ‘I'll show you’ attitude from the ashes of a failed venture Smokie started a flag and banner business. It grew to 25 employees, international customers and innovative products bringing affordable pretty flags to every home. Her speaking career was launched when she was asked to speak about her success.
She felt stuck, was burned out and needed a career change after 15 years with flags. By working with an executive coach, she reached her goal in two years and sold her business in 1997. She’s never looked back.
She pursued the life she wanted when she became a coach to decision makers and business owners to achieve profitablility for their business and the life they want. She has coached thousands of people across a variety of industries, including financial services, marketing and advertising to achieve their goals.
Coaching women leaders inspired Smokie to establish the Smart Woman’s Club (www.smartwomansclub.com), a community for professional women to thrive in their career, love life, and celebrate their brilliance with increased self esteem and confidence.
She has been featured in Virginia Business magazine, Richmond Times-Dispatch and the American Business Women's Association Express Network newsletter. She has been a guest on local television stations and was the goals coach for local the NBC affiliate with regular appearances on their noon segments. She produced the Smart Woman’s Conference for professional women. A world traveler, she was the Visiting Coach at Beijing Language and Culture University in Beijing, China.
Among other accomplishments, she co-founded the International Coaches Federation Richmond Chapter and the Southeast Regional Conference of the International Coaches Federation in 2001. Smokie established the Corporate Relation Sponsorship program for River City Express Network of the ABWA. She designed and led the coaching segment of the Emerging Leaders Program of the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg.
Clients include Bank of America, John Tyler Community College, DuPont Fibers Credit Union, Northrop Grumman, Bank of America, and the Senate Clerk's Office of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
She remains active in her community, serving as Membership Chair for the National Speakers Association, Richmond Chapter and membership in Network of Enterprising Women.
She enjoys traveling, photography and golf. She especially loves walking in the woods to find her golf balls.
